Emergency incident on railway in West Sussex left trains 'at a stand'

Lines have reopened on a key railway route in West Sussex after an emergency incident.

Southern Rail reported just before 4pm that ‘all lines are currently blocked’ due to trespassers ‘on the railway in the Littlehampton area’.

A statement on social media read: “All trains in the Littlehampton/Angmering area are currently at a stand.

“If you are on a train currently at a stand, please listen to on board announcements if you are able to.

"You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following: Stagecoach route 700 between Littlehampton and Brighton.”

At 4.15pm, Southern said all lines had reopened, adding: “Services in the area will be disrupted while returning to their normal schedules.”
