Emergency road closure

An emergency closure of a road between Lewes and Ditchling has been put in place by the county council.

The B2116, just west of Plumpton College, is likely to remain in place until 11pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

Traffic will be diverted via: Plumpton Lane, Plumpton Green, C71, Ditchling Common and Ditchling Common Lane.

PLEASE NOTE: There is also a road closure in force on Spatham Lane from 11pm to 6pm so motorists should not try to use it as a diversion during this time.

The B2116 is closed to traffic as overflowing water from a nearby bore hole is threatening to cause road slippage.

East Sussex Highways will be working on the road to stabilise it.
