A FAMILY business which has been trading for 20 years in Midhurst’s West Street is set to close.
Rainmac was opened by Michael Orr, who started trading as a mail order business and then set up the shop in Midhurst.
His family has been helping run the business for the last five years, but sadly Mr Orr died this summer.
“It is the end of an era,” said his daughter-in-law Katrine Orr: “We have carried on as long as we could, but now we have sold the business to a wellington boot company based in Lincolnshire.”
She said it would still be possible to buy Rainmac items online through the Rainmac website.
There is currently a closing down sale at the shop which is due to close in the next week.
“We would like to thank all our customers for all their loyalty and support over the years,” said Katrine.
The building has been sold and plans submitted to change the use of office space on the ground floor and storage on the first floor to three self contained flats.
