A GRANT from a charitable foundation has enabled Sussex Wildlife Trust to appoint a living landscapes officer, to manage its local nature reserves.

Jane Willmott will be based in Midhurst with the South Downs National Park Authority.

She will work closely with landowners to protect and connect the landscape, including greens and heaths at Iping and Stedham Commons, Graffham Common and Burton Mill Pond, and also the Arun Valley wetland sites at Waltham Brooks and Amberley Wildbrooks.

Jane’s post is funded by a grant from Arcadia whose key mission is to protect endangered culture and nature.

Jane is a long-time resident of Sussex with a lifelong passion for the natural world. She has worked in conservation for 20 years and has had a close association with the Sussex Wildlife Trust as a ranger and countryside manager with local councils.
