Mrs Down's Diary

"Success," John said as he came into the kitchen for breakfast. "I've managed to get a tag into that new calf's ear." Legislation, DEFRA style, insists on all ne wborn calves requiring ear tags. What it does not state, is how to do it.

The problem with this calf was its Mum. Last year when she calved, she was very protective of her calf but at least let John get close enough to it to put the tag in. This year she is having none of that.
