Feed Your Mind

Are you struggling to lose weight?

Is food your best friend and your worst enemy?

Do you label certain foods as good or bad?

If these are issues you would like to discuss, Su Kennedy and Lisa Barker hope to hear from you.

They are two counsellors setting up a series of groups for women called Feed Your Mind.

They comment: "Having spoken to many women about how their thoughts and emotions affect what they eat and how what they eat affects their emotions, we realised just how many were using food as a means of managing their emotions.

"We decided we would like to offer support to these women by offering an opportunity for them to attend affordable groups for women where they can explore issues around food in a safe, friendly, non-judgmental and confidential environment.

"This is how the idea for Feed Your Mind came about.

"We will be running small, closed therapeutic counselling groups for women aged over 18 years of age, allowing them to explore issues surround emotional/comfort eating and helping them to develop techniques and strategies to help them find alternative ways of managing their emotional lives. As well as exploring possibly psychological reasons for using food in this way, the group will also look at making healthy food choices and exercise."

The first group is planned for Wednesday April 23 at Sidley Baptist Church, Christian Beacon Centre, from 1.15-2.45pm. The cost will be 10 per session.
