The much loved Fernhurst centre has closed for the rest of the summer for a major facelift.
Fernhurst villagers have been told that the centre, which closed on Monday is set to reopen at the start of October and in the meantime it is undergoing major refurbishment.
“Many of the old features installed years ago will have been removed, replaced or refreshed,” said chairman of the centre Judith Turner.
“While losing none of its IT equipment that is used by so many people of all ages, the cafe part of the centre will have new furniture, carpeting and lighting allowing all visitors to relax in more congenial surroundings.”
She added: “there will also be an up to date coffee machine providing a wide range of coffee, tea and chocolate drinks. In addition when the centre reopens in the autumn the computer area will be more private.
A new range of courses and meetings are planned for those who cant to get to k now their computers better and villagers will be able to hire the room.
Courses due to start in the autumn include a session for those struggling with Windows 10 and a course on using an iPad both on October 5 and a lesson on digital photography on October 12. Places must be booked in advance.
