The annual Fernhurst Fun Run, better known as the Blackdown Race, takes place tomorrow (Sunday, October 11) at 11am from Fernhurst recreation ground.
The route covers three miles, to the top of Blackdown, around the Temple of the Winds and back. The surface varies from the easy running grass of the recreation ground, to hardcore paths, sand, mud, and woodland tracks.
Fastest recorded time, set several years ago, is 19 minutes and a few seconds.
Trophies are awarded to the winners of the open, open ladies, fastest Fernhurst resident, veteran men and veteran ladies, under-16s and under-12s. All who compete receive a medal.
To take part, just turn up at the recreation ground pavilion in time to register and warm up. There are marshalls at points along the route, which is well marked.
The race is in aid of Fernhurst Youth Club funds and is organised by Mike Boyce. For further information, he can be contacted on 01428 648740.
