Festival of Speed: Sunday preview

AFTER two thrilling days of racing, Goodwood is gearing up for the last day of Festival of Speed.

The day will start with holy communion outside Goodwood House and the magnificent Porsche sculpture which has been the focal point of the site.

The track is set to open at 8.45am with action on the hill and the forest rally stage will open at 9.30am.

A GAS arena show will take place at 10.30am with action on the site throughout the day, culminating at 5.30pm with FMX best track and BMX high jump.

Supercars will take to the hill at 12.25pm and a roaring Typhoon - Eurofighter air display at 12.30pm will bring the skies to life once more. The forest rally stage will close at 1pm to make way for the 20 years parade, presented by the Close Brothers which will capture the most memorable, weird and wonderful Festival of Speed moments from the last 20 years.

Among the many show-stoppers taking part will be Bob Riggle in his Hurst Hemi Under Glass wheelstanding dragster, back at Goodwood 12 years after his debut wheelie up the hill.

The forest rally stage will open for the last time at 2pm, and another show in the GAS arena will take place at 4pm.

A breathtaking display of aerobatics from the Red Arrows team will start at 6pm.

At 7pm a Veuve Cliquot prize giving awards ceremony outside Goodwood House will take place to signal the end of this year’s festival.
