Fire service tackle Wisborough Green pylon blaze

Part of Wisborough Green was cordoned off as firefighters tackled a blaze at an electricity pylon.

The fire service was called by by members of the public to the incident on Butts Meadow in Wisborough Green at 10.03pm last night (March 4), a spokesman said.

He added: “Joint Fire Control mobilised crews from Billingshurst and Petworth to the scene. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control using one hose reel. A cordon was set up and residents were urged to remain indoors.

“Electricity supplies were disrupted to the immediate area as a result of this incident, and engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity were in attendance.”

Crews left the incident at 1.29am and power has since been restored to the area. The spokesman added: “Crews returned to the scene this morning to reinspect, and confirmed there were no further signs of fire.”
