Fire strikes twice

FIRE crews were called out twice at the weekend to extinguish two separate fires in the same garage compound in Townsend Crescent, Littlehampton.

The first call was received just before midnight on Saturday and it took crews one-and-a-half hours to extinguish four blazing garages thought to have been set alight deliberately.

Six hours later, another call was received and crews returned to the same scene to fight a smaller garage fire.

The buildings were smoke-damaged and at least one vehicle destroyed.

Littlehampton fire station s Trevor Worsfold said: "These fires are of doubtful origin. Several youths were seen running away from the garage compound at the same time the fires started."
