Firefighters release two stags locked by antlers

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to aid the RSPCA yesterday after two stags became locked by the antlers.

Six members of the technical rescue unit arrived on the scene at 11.19am where RSPCA officers were trying to release the two stags at the River Arun in Pulborough.

The stags had become locked together by the antlers in 3ft-deep water. The stags were released by animal rescue equipment after about 20 minutes, however one stag died during the operation. The other stag was injured during the release.
