Firefighters to swap water jets for soapy sponges

It's that time of year again! On Saturday firefighters from Billingshurst Fire Station will splash the soap suds at their charity car wash event.

The crew are hoping for good weather as they take part in The Fire Fighters Charity national car wash event – raising money for a great cause that supports firefighters and their families that have been affected, mentally or physically, by some of the devastating incidents attended.

If your car could do with sprucing up, then head down to the station between 10am and 4pm to give it some TLC, in exchange for a donation.

Daniel Game, retained firefighter and event organiser, said: “The Fire Fighters Charity car wash is one of the biggest events in the fire service calendar and it is a great opportunity for us to meet our local community in a positive environment.

“We would love for as many people as possible to come down and help us raise as much money as possible for a cause extremely close to our hearts. In previous years we have had people show up with cars, bikes and even mobility scooters!”
