Fishing tackle worth £2,000 isstolen from Rye

Power tools and more than £2,000 worth of fishing equipment have been stolen in a series of thefts in Rye.

A shed in Marley Road was entered overnight on Sunday/Monday 8 September.

The items stolen include carp rods, a feeder rod, green rod bags, landing net, green fishing bags, carp reels, Downer infinities rods, Wychwood rods and reels, JRC rods and a Fox rod.

Over the same night another resident, from The Link, had fishing equipment stolen when windows of his white Vauxhall Vivaro were broken. The items stolen include Nash rods, a Nash fishing bag, ST10000ra, Shimano 10000GTE reels, Shimano 5000 float reel, wireless bite alarm set, angling technics bait box, rod bags and a pink children’s rod and reel.

A Vauxhall Astra van in Mason Road was broken into between 4pm on 7 September and 11am on 8 September, when several expensive power tools were stolen including a blue Makita 4” angle grinder, blue Makita power drill, blue Makita impact drill, batteries, chargers and a Makita cutting saw.

Rye police sergeant Warren Downs said: “Given the nature of the thefts we are linking them and appealing to anyone who has information to please get in contact.”
