FIVE -YEAR- OLD BOY IS EXPELLED

A FIVE-year-old boy, believed to be the youngest child in Sussex to be permanently excluded, has been expelled from his school in Broadwater after an undisclosed incident.

The decision was taken by the head teacher of Broadwater C of E First and Middle School, Janet Sharp, and will be reviewed by the school's governers.

A statement from the school, in Rectory Gardens, said: "We confirm that a pupil has been excluded from the school.

"A decision to exclude any pupil is taken in response to serious breaches of a school's behaviour policy.

"We cannot comment further on this case as school governors have yet to review the head teacher's decision, following which there may be a further right of independent appeal."
