Flooding causes traffic chaos around Chichester

Heavy downpours have flooded roads around Chichester today (October 6), causing rush hour traffic chaos.

There is currently (5.30pm) slow traffic on the A27 Chichester Bypass at the A259 Bognor Road Roundabout.

Sherborne Road in Chichester has also been flooded while traffic is slow moving around the roundabout at the entrance to the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Chichester firefighters were called to the Northgate Roundabout at 4.45pm to pump water off the road, and had finished by 5.25pm.

In Bognor Regis, a traffic light failure on the A259 Hotham Way at Upper Bognor Road is causing delays.

One lane is closed and there is slow traffic due to an accident on the A27 eastbound at the A259 Emsworth Junction, with congestion on up to the A3023 Langstone Road.

The emergency services are attending to a vehicle which has come off the road and one lane is closed.

Traffic is building up along the Havant Road.

A yellow weather warning was issued across the country today.

Temporary surface water has flooded roads across the Observer area, causing disruption to travel.

Occasionally heavy showers could continue overnight.

The forecast for Wednesday is cloudy with occasionally heavy showers in the morning. However it should become drier during the morning.
