Focus on danger spot for Felpham pedestrians

Dangers to pedestrians along one of Felpham's longest roads were among the topics discussed at an annual meeting.

The risk to walkers on Limmer Lane, which lacks footpaths or refuges, was one of the issues which debated at Felpham Village Conservation Society's annual meeting.

Other topics of interests included the promenade, beach and sea; the possible Tesco Express store replacing the Richmond Hyundai car dealership and the volume of traffic.

Those residents and members who packed the Felpham Village Memorial Hall for the occasion decided to set up focus groups to study all such issues of importance.

Their conclusions will be combined into a village plan. This will act as a blueprint to be taken into account by councillors when developments are considered for the area.

Joan Aubrey Jones, the society's chairman, said: "The studies will emphasise what improvements and changes we want to see and by when we want to see them.

"How these improvements and changes come about will be up to them."

It has long been thought by the society's committee that it was time for the group to become more active and constructive about the future of the village. Anyone interested in joining a group should contact Mrs Audrey Jones on [email protected] or 01243 582722.

The plea for residents to become involved with the process generated the healthy turnout. Those present heard that the society had enjoyed a successful year socially in 2007. The three events which had been held were sell outs.

West Felpham police community support officer Toby Florescu made a short and useful presentation about his role. He warned that speed cameras would be used in the future without warning in the area.
