Fun Day at Kings Arms

THE KINGS Arms Crown Carvery at Ninfield held a Family Fun Day to raise funds for The Trevor Mann Baby Unit.

The friendly staff got into the spirit of things with many donning fancy dress; a bouncy castle, face painting and drawing competition kept energetic children entertained, a well stocked tombola and a range of delicious home-made cakes, made by the talented Jackie Bailey and her mum, proved popular with all.

And for the slightly more adventurous, for a 1 donation, there was the opportunity to win a carvery date with a member of staff, something which House Manager, Hayley Thurman said was a hit with many of the customers.

Hayley said: "We took photographs of the staff, put them on a board and invited people to select who they would like to have a carvery date with. We've yet to make the draw to select the winner but there are a lot of entries."

The day ended with a curry night for just 3 which included tickets to see Jack Bonney's acoustic band, Houston Has A Problem.

Approximately 540 was raised for The Trevor Mann Baby Unit, which is an intensive care unit for premature and seriously ill babies based in Brighton, and Hayley thanked the everyone including the many businesses who had helped support the event.

Hayley said: "Even though we are in a recession, business and local shops were very generous with their donations and everyone who has contributed to the day, from the bouncy castle to the band, have given their time free of charge. We've had a tremendous amount of support and it's been absolutely fantastic."
