Future use of the academy’s Easebourne school site debated

EASEBOURNE parish councillors have been told the former Midhurst Intermediate School site, now part of Midhurst Rother College, will probably be handed back to West Sussex County Council next summer.

Reporting on the first meeting of the liaison group looking at possible uses for the Easebourne school site once the new academy building is complete, Adrian Revill told fellow parish councillors that under discussion was moving the Easebourne Primary School to the site, after renovations and alterations.

In addition two smaller blocks of buildings could be made available for community or stakeholder use.

He said Midhurst Town Football Club needed improved facilities and it was believed Cowdray Estate was interested in moving Midhurst Rugby Football Club away from their existing ground.

It was agreed the group should invite other interested parties to attend future meetings including the South Downs National Park Authority, Chichester District Council, Cowdray Estate, governors of the primary school and leaders of West Sussex County Council’s ‘Big Society’ initiative.

Mr Revill pointed out the group did not have decision-making powers, but it could influence, advise and coordinate on the future use of the site.
