The Care UK home, off Station Road, took part in a gardening challenge to help improve the gardens for the summer.

Colleagues from the support office and those who work within the home were joined by the residents and their families in the garden on the day.

Nothing could stop the team from getting the garden finished and they even worked through showers of rain.

Eileen Coyle-Jones, the home’s operations and support manager, said: “Even the smallest change in the home really makes a difference to the residents.

“The work that has been done here hasn’t only made for a great day, but will give something for the residents to enjoy for the months to come.”

Flower beds were weeded, plants were potted and the fences were given a bright and fresh lick of paint.

Everyone chipped in to get the job done and the day was finished with a glass of wine in the garden.

Darlington Court provides residential, nursing and respite care for older people, including individuals with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. It also offers end-of-life care.

Every month, a relaxed meeting is held with residents and their relatives to discuss how improvements can be made to day-to-day life at Darlington Court, and everyone has a say.
