Claremont Senior School students achieved excellent GSCE results with a significant rise on last year.

Many students were celebrating as 90 per cent achieved five or more A*-C including English and maths, a 12 per cent rise on last year’s figures.

Furthermore 41 per cent of the school’s GCSE grades were A*/A’s and about a third of pupils achieved five or more A*/A grades.

Head master of the Bodiam school Giles Perrin took confidence in this year’s results and is excited for next term.

Students of all academic abilities have achieved far beyond their expectations. We will celebrate all the successes, however this year we have a remarkably strong top end,” he said.

“The fact that a quarter of our students achieved eight or more A*-C, grades you an indication of the academic pedigree of both the staff and pupils we have at the school.

“The key to our success is a wonderful whole school atmosphere, a highly ambitious culture amongst our students and the most talented team of teachers I’ve ever worked with.”

Ben Laurense, Alex Cornelius, and Josephine Edmunds all achieved 10 A*/A grades while George Klein, Meg Warden, Maddy Stitchbury and Chloe Baker gained nine A*/As.

The headmaster said he took special pride in the modern foreign languages department as students sitting Spanish, French, Russian, German and Italian all earned A*-Bs.
