AN EMPLOYEE of South Harting-based cabinetmakers Cimitree Furniture has won gold at the prestigious WorldSkills competition.

The intense four-day battle took place in Leipzig, Germany, where Team UK showcased the skills of young people in this country.

Cabinet maker George Callow fought off competition from other talented international craftsman to secure his place as the best in the world.

The competition provides the opportunity for vocationally-skilled young people from around the world to showcase their craftsmanship.

George began his level two furniture apprenticeship with Chichester College and Rolls Royce Motor Cars after leaving school.

Adrian King is Cimitree’s Director of Design.

He said: “George is a great example of what is possible through hard work and world-class vocational training.”
