Glamorous campingearns a Green award

Sarah and Christopher Broadbent set up a ‘glamping’ (glamorous camping) business on their 40 acre Swallow Hill Farm three years ago.

It allowed them to diversify, support the conservation work they do and open an unusual landscape to people who might never see a flower meadow.

Sarah has also qualified as a Forest Schools Leader and runs regular out-of-the-classroom education groups for children between 6 and 11.

The Gold Accreditation is extremely hard to win and acknowledges the work they have done on landscape management, reducing the environmental impact of their home, farm and business, community engagement and teaching.

The award was presented by MP Greg Barker, who said: “I am delighted that this local business run by Sarah and Christopher Broadbent has won a gold accreditation.

“This is testament to their hard work and commitment to sensitive landscape management, conservation and environmental issues.

“It was a pleasure to visit them at their farm last week to learn more about their award and their innovative “glamping” business.”

Sarah Broadbent said: “We’re very pleased with this award. Our glamping business is designed to give our visitors the unique experience of an extremely comfortable stay in the unique surroundings of a traditional landscape while being as environmentally low impact as possible.”
