The Black Badge is aimed at ‘young, driven, self-made people’ keen to make a ‘bold and edgy lifestyle statement’, said CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös.

“Technically and aesthetically ‘Black Badge’ is the alter ego of Rolls-Royce Wraith and Ghost; darker, more assertive, more confident and powerful, and more demanding.”

The move, deemed as ‘a transformative moment’ for the supercar brand was announced on Tuesday, March 1, and stated customer demand as the driving force – targetting individuals who ‘wish to demonstrate their success’.

Designers, engineers and craftspeople have worked to subtly transform the Ghost and Wraith models to express ‘a darker luxury sophistication’.

The aim was that the cars would at ‘first glance offer very distinctive, common visual cues to their
nature’ but below the surface be ‘two very different beasts’.
