Guided tour of Manor House ruins

ORGANISERS were delighted by the response by the public to the opportunity to undertake a guided tour of the remains of Bexhill's ancient manor house.

The Sunday afternoon tour was organised by Bexhill Museum's parish history group to mark the launch of its museum exhibition The Rise And Fall Of Bexhill Manor House.

The tour was led by Heather Morrey, assisted by Gillian Beecher and Judith Carey.

Gillian said later: "It went very well. We had 21 people. Some had heard about it at the museum and some had read about it in the paper.

"Heather led a tour of the house, room-by-room, using photographs to explain each plus the use of the ground-plan.

"The tour lasted about one and a half hours and people seemed very interested.

"We are planning to do another tour on Sunday, September 5, starting at 2pm, to which the public are welcome."
