Halloween fun in Horsham

Horsham District Council along with the Rotary Club of Horsham will be hosting a series of ‘Trick or Treat’ trails around the town between October 24 and November 1.

The competition encourages youngsters to go into participating shops, complete a task to earn a trick or a treat and find a password. The passwords can then be entered to earn a prizes.

You can pick up an entry form for the trail in this weeks edition of the County Times.

As well as the trails the council and the Rotary Club, along with Horsham Urban Children and Family Centre and local business sponsors, will be hosting the popular Children In Need Halloween Party from 10am to 4pm on Thursday October 29.

The party provides a variety of free entertainment for younger children.

Highlights include a children’s Halloween Activity Zone with Horsham Urban Children and Family Centre, a Children’s Fun Zone with crafts and face painting by Horsham Churches Together, street entertainments, storytelling on the bandstand, a Halloween themed Thursday market and a fancy dress competition.

Horsham’s Non-Stop Party Shop are sponsoring the fancy dress competition and entry forms can be picked up from the shop or participants can join in outside Wilkinsons on the day.

Pudsey Bear and Blush (the BBC’s Children in Need mascots) will also be visiting Horsham town centre and will be seen popping into many of the sponsoring businesses and performing with Children’s TV star Dave Benson Phillips on the bandstand.

There will be a number of Pudsey’s ‘mascot’ friends in and around the Carfax throughout the day.

HackHorsham, an organisation who promote digital awareness in the town, will also be getting into the Halloween spirit with a series of events in Swan Walk shopping centre.

The group are set to host digital demonstrations in the centre between Friday (October 30) and Sunday (November 1).

Visitors of all ages will be able to make electronic creations, learn about coding and get involved in fun activities using popular computer games such as Minecraft.

Helping HackHorsham each day will be a host of local companies and organisations all keen to see more people encouraged into the world of Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics.

Gill Buchanan, Swan Walk centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to host this great event. Hack Horsham and their partners have been doing some amazing work around digital skills for people of all ages and I know that our customers will have great fun and learn a lot from this event.”
