HOUSEHOLDS in Fernhurst have all received a small 20 page questionnaire asking how they feel about where they live and how they want it to develop in the future.
The questions, part of the Neighbourhood Plan project, have been set by working parties specialising in separate sections. These have included the ex-Syngeta site, Hurstfold, employment, housing needs transport, youth issues, older people, landscape and environment, leisure and sport and social cohesion.
It is hoped that everyone will fill in all, or at least most of the questions so that the compilers have a true record of how people feel about the village. The surveys will be collected in the next two weeks and the responses analysed. Together with other information garnered, answers will form the basis of the draft Neighbourhood Plan,
Another public meeting will follow to offer the chance to discuss the draft. Ultimately a final version will be submitted to the South Downs National Park, for their approval. An independent examiner then reviews it. If he agrees, it comes back to the village to be voted on by everyone in a referendum, which it is hoped will be in the spring of next year. It is intended that all planning application will then need to comply with this plan.
For anyone who lives or works in the village and does not have a questionnaire , copies are at the Post Office or it can be filled in on line at www.surveymonkey.com/s/Fernhurst-Neighbourhood-Plan
