Heating problem closes college

BEXHILL College students got a surprise extension to their winter break after the building's heating system sprung a leak.

Two thirds of the classrooms were left without heat when a pipe underneath a floorboard broke on Monday. The floor had to be dug up and pipe work mended. It was all expected to be up and running yesterday or today.

Students sitting exams have been able to attend college in the rooms still with heat.

Tutors have been on hand to see students on a one-to-one basis to make sure they don't fall behind.

Principal Karen Hucker said: "It is a old system in an old building which is one of the reasons why a move to a new site is well overdue."
