Hollyoaks stars to join Chichester charity run

On Sunday, November 1, actor Danny Mac - who played Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage in the television series - and his girlfriend Carley Stenson (famous for playing Steph Cunningham in the soap), will join hundreds of fun-seekers in the St Wilfrid’s Hospice Colour Run, a sponsored walk, jog or run during which participants are showered with multi-coloured powder paint along the way.

Danny is an enthusiastic supporter of St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Donnington, and has even appeared in All Star Family Fortunes to raise much needed funds for the hospice.

He grew up in Bognor Regis and his mum, Jan, has been a nurse at the hospice for more than 13 years.

Danny said: “Because my mum works there, I get a real inside view of the hospice and can really appreciate the incredible work the nurses do, looking after people in the last phase of their lives.

“The reality of daily life in a hospice is often a far cry from the public’s perception; these days it’s much more about supporting and enabling patients to live the best lives they can.”

The run is the first of its kind in Chichester and throughout the untimed race, participants are doused from head to toe in different coloured powder (environmentally friendly corn starch) along the route.

Taking place around the grounds of Chichester College which will be bursting with colour, participants can choose between a 2k, 5k or 10k distance.

It costs St Wilfrid’s more than £18,000 every day to provide their vital services.

Also taking part in the run is ‘Wise Wilf’, the hospice mascot.
