DON’T put used nappies into council recycling bins, householders in the Midhurst and Petworth area have been told.
The issue was raised at a Chichester District Council meeting, when Cllr John Connor, cabinet member for environment, said a major problem leading to the rejection of material in waste bins was contamination.
“This is down to the public to sort out,” he declared.
If people would insist on putting things like used nappies and unwashed discarded curry containers in their recycling bins, this could result in contamination.
He said the district council was looking to address the problem of material which was grossly contaminated with things like curry or engine oil.
