Tuesday 15 July The Social Committee of the Church has a visit with a guide to 3 Marsh Churches - East Guldeford, Lydd and Brookland. Leave at 1.30. Return by 6pm having had a W.I. Tea at Stone-in-Oxney(£5 per person).Car lifts will be arranged. You cans till sign up at he back of the Church.

Howard and Judy Marks have left Broad Street and had a very meaningful time in Icklesham during which they married ,were confirmed and did a tremendous amount in Church Life,By the wonders of modern technology Howard aims to continue his work on the Parish Magazine. Thanks to you both. “Bon Chance”

On Sunday 6 July there is an afternoon Garden Party at Manor Farm Oast from noon till 3pm. Everybody is welcome and there will be a Treasure Hunt and a fantastic raffle There are a few lunches left. Contact Kate Mylrea 01424 813787 and you could order a full Ploughman’s Lunch with a choice of ham,cheese or home made pate plus a glass of wine or a soft drink for only £6. Ricochet will be playing their music. They’re doing this for free as it’s all for Breast Cancer Support.

Sunday 6 July Queen’s Head Live Music 4-6 Blues with Turpin Hubbard.

Rye Bay Football Club play at Winchelsea Beach and has 3 teams each with young players from the local area. The Club’s ethos has a strong sense of fair play and sportsmanship with a written code of conduct. In the Presentation Evening programme each player had a photograph and a few details. In the Under 15s 2 are from Icklesham. Joseph Fraser “Centre Half. Strong and dependable and relishes a tackle. Technically gifted with great goals this season.” and Callum Martin “Defender. Callum has been a real asset to the team. He has speed,works hard and gives 100% every game. In the Under 11s Tom Wilkieson is “Midfield. A natural left footer Tom can use his right to equal effect. A full back’s nightmare”. Tom was voted Players’ Player of the Under 11 squad. Theo Cornell is “a great new addition to the Colts. A good runner with the ball,with an excellent touch and awareness of others.”

Icklesham Casuals Football Club is set to tackle a long distance Charity Challenge --playing golf!

A 10 strong group from the Club will play 36 holes over 9 courses in 9 counties all in I day - Monday 7 July.

All the clubs in East and West Sussex,Surrey,Hampshire,Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex,Essex and Kent are backing the challenge by allowing the group to play 4 holes either for free or at a reduced rate.

By completing the task the team will be raising money for 2 causes -MacMillan Cancer Support and Icklesham’s New Pavilion Fund.

In order to raise as much as possible the Club is seeking individuals and businesses to sponsor 1 hole -or more -at £10 a time.

The Club has pledged that if the amount raised reaches £2250 it will add a further £750 in matched sponsorship to bring the total to £3000 .

Please help the Club to achieve its target by sponsoring a hole.

Next week is the s second with the new recycling arrangements. Most of Icklesham had collections on Tuesdays. And for these households the next collection is of green wheelie bins and black boxes on Thursday 10 July. The green wheelies will be used to collect a wide range of recyclable material. the black boxes are for bottles and jars of any colour.

Friday 11 July at 7.30 and Saturday 12 at 2.30 and 7.30 in the Memorial Hall 2 local amateur theatrical groups, Icklesham Players and Acting Up At Rye have a production with a World War 1 theme called “Smile Boys - That’s the Style”.It’s written and directed by Mel Smith who wrote and directed Icklesham’s Pantomime. The first half is the story of a soldier, who volunteered, and his experiences. The second half is a Music Hall with famous stars and their songs which we still know today. Tickets are just £6.50 either from Icklesham Village Stores or from Nicky Harris 01424 812996.There are performances at the Rye Community Centre on 17 and 18 July.

Many will have noticed that there were some changes to the tunnel in the playground in the Recreation Ground. Following recommendations from the Parish Council’s Health and Safety Inspector, the Council arranged with the contractors, Play dale, to turn the tunnel 180 degrees, move it slightly and resurface with Astroturf.. This was at no cost to the Council.

I’ve been told of several albino squirrels being seen in our area. People can’t always be definite about the years but they have been sightings in Bodiam, Iden and Wittersham.

Sharon and Keith Sellens of Oast House Field are justifiably proud of their two sons who have both graduated this year. Stuart,23, now has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Optometry from Bradford University and will follow a career in that field.

Richard,21, has a B.A.(Hons) in Music from Durham University and will take Librarian Studies.

Saturday 2 August Icklesham Fete and Flower Show. The Fete has many attractions booked and raffle tickets will be on sale soon. If you would like to help in any way the Trust Committee would be delighted to hear from you. The Secretary is Sandra Stunt 3 Broad Street Cottages 01424 814401. All Money raised in the Fete is for the Memorial Hall and the Pavilion.

The Horticultural Society Flower Show Schedules are available from 22 High Fords. It only costs £1 to join the Society and to enter a class it’s 20 pence. Entries to be in by 7.00pm on Wednesday 30 July.The Society will be running the Tombola and the teas.Any tombola prizes can be dropped in at 22 High Fords and cakes could be taken to the hall on the day.

The Church will have a cake stall at the Fete and they would appreciate the gift of any cakes to sell.The Church social committee are having a stall to raise funds for the Church Tower restoration. “Bitz and Pieces” will sell anything you don’t want but someone else might.
