INCREASE IN COMPLAINTS ABOUT POLICE BLAMED ON LAW CHANGES

THE number of complaints against Sussex Police rose by almost 30 per cent in the past year.

The ion crease was revealed in figures released by the Independent Police Complaints Commission last week.

In 2005/06 there were 333 complaints against the force, rising to 428 in 2006/78.

Sussex Police saw the third-highest increase in complaints, behind Bedfordshire Police, which saw the greatest increase at 40 percent and Gwent Police in second with 29 per cent.
