Independent Lives charity up for best employer award

Now in its 14th year, the accolades celebrate the achievements of organisations committed to boosting skills and knowledge of the adult social care workforce.

Independent Lives was nominated for its commitment to workforce satisfaction and wellbeing, achieved through a wide variety of development programmes, training, and a novel ‘leadership at all levels’ approach.

Sharon Allen, Skills for Care CEO, said: “It was yet another tough task for the judging panels but all of our finalists are not only demonstrating excellence in how they develop the workforce, but also innovative ways of thinking about how they do it that can only benefit the people they service in our communities”.

The award nomination comes shortly after the user-led charity won a prestigious Guardian Public Service Award for its groundbreaking clinical training programme, which provides support workers with the skills they need to undertake clinical tasks in a person’s home.

Being shortlisted in the Aaccolades gives organisations the chance for their work to be recognised, and to share best practice across the sector so that innovative improvements can continue to be made to help those who want or need support.

Rebecca Smicle, Independent Lives chief executive, said: “I’m thrilled that our organisation has been shortlisted for a Skills for Care Accolade. Independent Lives is increasingly being recognised on a national level for their work in enabling people to lead full, active, and independent lives. All of our staff should be very proud of what they’ve achieved”.

The winners will be announced at the Accolades award ceremony on Thursday, March 9 in Liverpool.
