Villager Vanessa Blaber said: “The fourth annual animal service, taken by the Rev Roger Williamson, was held at Iping Church.

“It was attended by 27 people, 17 dogs and two tortoises.

“All the dogs behaved well and after a hymn and some prayers, they were each blessed in turn with their proud owners looking on.”

St Margaret’s Church in Fernhurst holds a similar annual service, inviting all pet-owners from across the village.
