FRESHLY-baked bread and mouthwatering meats tempted shoppers to Midhurst’s second Italian market.
Accordion player Alan Briant serenaded shoppers as they browsed and Simon Faro, who runs Italia in Piazza, confirmed he will return in September.
Melanie Burgoyne, Chichester District Council’s rural towns co-ordinator, works closely with the Midhurst Town Team and said: “We are booking markets like this to re-establish the Market Square as a venue for events, a key objective for the Midhurst Town Team. It’s all part of encouraging footfall into the ‘old town’ by making people more aware of the area.
“The team wants Midhurst to become known for its varied markets in the beautiful setting of the historic square.
“We have had people come along who have not been to this part of the town before and who have been impressed with what they’ve seen.”
