Yes, Littlehampton’s annual sandcastle competition is back.

Would-be dukes and duchesses of the dunes, squires of the shore and baronesses of the beach are invited to construct their castles by the seaside on Thursday next week.

The artistic aristocrats will be competing in three age categories, under-fives, under-11s and over-11s.

The competition is free to enter and prizes have been donated by Harbour Park and Action Boat, with judging by town mayor Joyce Bowyer, Littlehampton’s carnival ‘royals’ and Sandy Castle, the harbour Park mascot.

The town council is organising the event and registration, by individuals or as a team, is from 11am, with building from about noon. Only natural materials found on the beach can be used in construction. Free buckets will be given away on a first come, first served basis.

Spirit FM will be broadcasting live and there will be a Punch and Judy show for all the family.
