Join charity walk

ENTRY forms are now available for one of the best charity fund-raising opportunities of the summer - the annual Bexhill Rotary Club Community Charity Walk.

This year the Bexhill Observer is teaming-up with Bexhill Rotary Club to promote the event.

Walk organiser, Rotary club past president Roger Heyes, is contacting the fund-raisers and leaders of a wide variety of local groups inviting them to take advantage of the event.

Walkers may raise sponsorship to support the good cause of their choice.

Roger said: "Last year (in fact every year to date) on a lovely warm sunny day, 250 or so walkers set off from St Richard's College to walk to either Battle or Crowhurst and back, or just for a stroll along the seafront. Between them they raised more than 15,000 for their charities, clubs, schools and other good causes.

"The walkers raised the money, being sponsored by members of their families, friends and colleagues. They signed up the sponsors. They did the walking. They collected the money afterwards. They gave it to their chosen charity or good cause.

"We, the Rotary Club of Bexhill did the rest.

"We set the signposts and provided all the sponsorship forms (and certificates for all the walkers). We arranged for marshals to be stationed along each route. We gave the walkers refreshments along the way. In short, we organised it.

And, on Sunday, June 10 this year we're going to do it all again.

"Do you want our help to raise some funds?

"We'll be in touch with you again soon.

"In the meantime, if you want any more information, get in touch with us."
