THE two dogs believed to have been stolen from a Petworth farm last week have been returned.

Their overjoyed owners thanked all who had helped in their desperate week-long search.

Posting the news of the safe return of the dogs on Facebook they said they had been dropped off back at the farm.

Chukka, a four year old female terrier-cross with black white and brown markings and Jibber her ten year old companion, a Norfolk cross Jack Russell terrier with a brown coat and a docked tail, had been missing since October 22.

Devastated owner Alison Batchelor believed they had been stolen from her Downview Farm.

At the time she said: “I think somebody has picked them up.

“We have searched all the roads for them.

“They normally roam our farm and everyone known our dogs around the area.”

But the missing pair were mysteriously dropped back at the farm exactly a week later.

They appeared again at 6am on Tuesday (October 27).
