Keeping the customers warm

LEWES greengrocer and caf owner Bill Collison likes to make sure his customers are nice and cosy when they sit down to drink and eat at his Cliffe High Street establishment.

Sometimes it can get cold in Bills' produce store which has its street side part-open to the elements.

So at the cafe hot water bottles are offered free for every customer to use.

'The idea has been a great success,' said Bill. 'We have heating but it's never warm enough in the winter. Someone suggested hot water bottles and I thought what a good idea.

'I have 30 on offer and during the very cold snaps we have been having they have all been out in use.

'It makes sound business sense as well. If customers are not warm, they won't come in.'
