Kirdford rower makes waves with Guinness World Record

HERO rower Tommy Tippetts, from Kirdford, has earned a place in Guinness World Records after his successful crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.

Tommy, 22, has now been officially confirmed as the youngest male to achieve the feat solo.

He set off from San Sebastian in the Canary Islands, on January 21 this year and arrived in Barbados, West Indies, 82 days later on April 12, after rowing more than 3,000 miles.

Tommy undertook his record-breaking adventure to raise money for the mental health charity, Mind, and has so far managed to raise almost £10,000 for the charity.

The universally-known Guinness Book of Records changed to Guinness World Records in 2000.
