TODAY (June 7) is the last day charities and community groups can sign up to be a part of the Chichester Summer of Giving campaign, which launches on June 17.
Run by Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester (VAAC), working in partnership with Sussex Community Foundation, Chichester District Council and Chichester in Partnership, the aim of the campaign is to make supporting charities and community groups in the district easier and more sustainable.
Chichester in Partnership has provided £10,000 to match-fund donations made during the campaign.
Charities and community groups working in the district, with at least 50 per cent of beneficiaries being residents of the Chichester district, must have their page on the www.localgiving.com website active by the end of today to be eligible.
Charities and community groups that would like the opportunity to be part of this must register their interest by calling Kate Scales at VAAC on 01243 840305 before the end of today.
The scheme works by getting donors to set up a direct debit to donate a minimum of £10 per month for a year to a Chichester district community group with a page at www.localgiving.com.
That £10 will be matched for 12 months until the £10,000 match fund pot has gone.
With the addition of Gift Aid, the scheme could turn a £10 monthly donation into £270 over a year.
Each charity or community group can have a maximum of £480 in monthly £10 donations matched.
For more information, call Kate Scales at VAAC on 01243 840305 or Miranda Kemp at Sussex Community Foundation on 01273 409440.
