Lavington Stud seeks to divert footpaths

Announcing a public consultation on the diversion West Sussex County Council’s public rights of way officer Judith Grimwood said the stud’s vet had advised equine diseases could be transported on their hands, clothing or footwear crossing fields or going close to fences: “Should a disease outbreak occur the consequences for the stud could be catastrophic.”

She said it had identified three lengths of paths as having an ‘adverse impact on the effectiveness of their operations, especially in terms of disease control’.

The footpaths affected are number 987 running from the southern end of Graffham Street near the Primary School and Church

northwards on an access drive into Lavington Stud, 991 running south from Upper Norwood Lane across Lavington Stud land and 724 running from the entrance gate to Seaford College in Duncton, westwards across Lavington Park.

The county council has now sent out letters of consultation to user groups and comments should be submitted by November 18.
