A level success at Midhurst Rother College

47 per cent of grades were A* to B - six per cent up on last year and nearly 70 per cent were grades A* to C.

MRC principal Dr Joe Vitagliano told the Observer: “These results are a testament to the maturity and success of the school and the outstanding provision of the sixth form blending together academic courses and key vocational courses.”

He added: “Excellent A level and vocational course grades are greatly sought after both in the UK and abroad, and the college has become adept at delivering these results.

“While the standard for achieving high grades appear to increase from year to year, students at MRC continue to excel in these demanding examinations.

Once again a good number of Midhurst students have secured places at top universities including those in the Russell Group. This year students have also secured high level employment following their studies at Midhurst.”

Among the stars of the A level show at MRC are Sebastian Barrett with an A*,A and B who is going to King’s College London to read chemistry,

Oliver Banting with a double distinction* in businesses studies as we;ll as a B, C who is off to the University of Kent to studey accounting, Harry Chard, who also gained a double distinction* in business studies B, C and starts a level 4 apprenticeship with a French company in Crawley.

Joe Casebow gained A*, A, B and goes to the University of Bath to study maths and Matilda Chatwood with three A grades is to study Law at Bristol.

Emily Hillier with 2 A grades and a B is heading for Exeter is read English Literature and Lucy Keartland who netted an A* and 2 A grades goes to Bath to read politics and international relations.

Isabel King with A*, A and B will be starting an art foundation course and Matthew Payn with another double distinction* as well as an A grade and 2 Bs hopes to study business management at Cardiff.

Harry Pink gained four a levels with A, B, B and C grades and if off to Swansea to study genetics and Matthew Ray with three A levels, two at A* grade and a C continues his studies with computer science at the University of Surrey. Lucy van Zwanenberg with grades of A, B, B goes to the University of Surrey to study veterinary science.
