Lewis flexes his creative muscles for film project

A LOCAL filmmaker is delving into the often misunderstood world of bodybuilding for a new film, which he hopes will become a global hit.

Preparations for a new Docu-drama movie, Muscle: The Weight of the World, began with a series of professional photo-shoots at Zeus’s Gym and Raw Instinct Gym in Hastings last month.

The movie is being helmed by Lewis Bennett, who grew up in Battle and studied at Battle Abbey School.

The movie will show the fascinating and often misunderstood world of modern bodybuilding in a frank and unapologetic way, focusing on the intense rivalry between local bodybuilders Jorge Darkadas and Christopher Beeson as they prepare to compete with another in a bodybuilding show slated for late 2014 or early 2015.

The addition of other cameos including ex-Battle Abbey pupil Brendan O’Keeffe to the cast adds another elements of complexity, with director Lewis Bennett describing the role that Brendan will fulfil as that of the “keen underdog”.

On the movie itself, Mr. Bennett said:“We’re really excited to bring the movie to the masses as their is a huge amount of talent on display and it offers a true inside look at an astonishing and challenging sport.”

Filming will begin in late Summer of 2014, with a targeted release date of Summer 2015 in cinemas and on iTunes and Netflix, in countries across the world, including Australia, America and Great Britain.
