Littlehampton show will be packed with horrifying fun

A HORRIFYINGLY fun show is in store for theatre-goers in Littlehampton from August 6.

Members of the Littlehampton Musical Comedy Society (LMCS) are opening the flower shop doors to welcome audiences to their rendition of the Little Shop of Horrors.

The show will transport people back to 1960s America, to the slums of New York – Skid Row – where a hapless florist discovers a plant that requires a little more than just the usual watering.

Directing the show will be long-time member of the LMCS, but debutante to the director’s chair, Kelly Manchee.

William Blanchard-Cooper, of LMCS, said: “This has been a dream of hers and what a show to kick off her directing experience.

“She loves this show and is very excited to be given the opportunity to work with such a talented cast and society.

“She looks forward to seeing everyone in Skid Row for this visual and audio extravaganza.”

The story revolves around Seymour Krelborn (played by Luke Palmer).

Seymour is a nerdy orphan working at Mushnik’s, a flower shop in urban Skid Row.

He harbours a crush on fellow co-worker Audrey Fulquard (Michelle Shepard-Ede) but is berated by Mr Mushnik (Tim Kimber) on a daily basis.

During his work, Seymour discovers a mysterious, unidentified plant which he names Audrey II (with Bruce Stewart providing the plant’s voice) – a flower which soon has people flocking to the store to see it.

However, it soon becomes apparent that Audrey II has a murderous craving for blood.

Seymour, still lusting for Audrey’s love, witnesses her sadistic dentist boyfriend Orin (Mark Roberts) beating her.

He then agrees with Audrey II to feed Orin to the plant. Soon things spiral out of control, with more people falling foul of Audrey II’s murderous appetite.

Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical packed with famous tunes, with musical director John Woodman helping to drive the show forward alongside Kelly.

The musical will run at the Windmill Entertainment Centre from August 6 until August 9, at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on August 9.
