But there was also plenty for people to enjoy during the day when bonfire building took place and a children’s fancy dress competition was judged in the Memorial Hall.

First prize, in the fancy dress, went to Ellie, with Albert and Oscar joint second. Annie and Tom were joint third.

There was also a Guy competition which saw Ryan win the individual section and Senlac Garden Kids winning the group category.

The ‘Kids’ were comprised of James, Sam, Luke, Jasmyn, Gabriella, William and Elliot.

Matt Southam, from Battel Bonfire Boyes, said: “It was another amazing year for us.

“We owe great thanks to the businesses and individuals within the town who support us throughout the year and help ensure this traditional event continues within the town.”
