LOCAL HEROES 2008
But the Express, with the help of our readers, can put people in the spotlight.
Every town and village has people who 'make things tick' or care for others.
Their contributions make a big difference.
We are looking for nominations from readers.

Is there someone who deserves a pat on the back for the work they do?
They may have served a village hall community for many years, kept the youth club running, worked tirelessly to help others who are in need.
It maybe a man or woman who pops in to check on an elderly neighbour every day of the year or the person who cuts the grass around the war memorial.

Hide AdConsider people who help raise thousands of pounds for charity or spend their weekends and spare time working on historic restoration projects.
We know that many people carry out their 'good works' with no thought of asking for or even wanting a thank you.
They see it as part of life that helps the world go round.
However, it is right that communities and people should say thank you for the self-less example of others.
The examples given in this article are not meant to restrict nominations in any way whatsoever. They are but examples to get readers thinking about who could be nominated.

Hide AdAs with all things, there may be a tendency to 'leave it to someone else'.
Please don't.
We would rather have one deserving person nominated many times rather than not at all.
It's simple to make nominations.
