Mais House - we've got talent

A talent show "like no other" was held at Mais House, the Royal British Legion care home in Hastings Road.

Spokesman Alan Bearne commented: "Eat your heart out, Simon Cowell, because we can really spot talent when we see it.

"Residents, volunteers and staff combined to entertain an appreciative audience of fellow residents, their friends and relations and other invited guests. Included on the bill were singers, dancers, comedians and, perhaps the highlight of the show, was a rendition by resident Hilary Newman of a poem called 'The Crabbit Old Woman'.

"She won all our hearts in a display of acting worthy of an Oscar. The show was the idea of Matron / Manager Sue Jones who also performed on the day.

"The idea of the event was to bring people together in a fun way, but it was also to show what hidden talents there are at Mais House. Funds were also raised for future residents' activities and a great time was had by all."
