Man airlifted to hospital after banger race crash

A MAN had to be rescued from his car by firefighters before being airlifted to hospital, after a crash at Angmering's Oval Racetrack yesterday (Sunday, September 14).

A car being driven by the 20-year-old man in a Destruction Derby was involved in a head-on collision with another.

Emergency services were called to the track at about 4.50pm, and he was released from the vehicle by fire crews using heavy rescue equipment.

He was then airlifted to Brighton's Royal Sussex Hospital, with leg and back injuries.
