Each group donated £500 to Canine Partners, a charity which trains assistance dogs to transform the lives of people with disabilities.

Nicola Gibbs, of Crayford, Kent, who has multiple sclerosis and relies on her canine partner Ola, said: “I must thank the Sussex Masons and Wayfarers Bognor Masonic Lodge
from the bottom of my
heart for the wonderful donation they are making to Canine Partners.

“I have had MS for 23 years and am wheelchair-bound with quite severe upper limb weakness.

“I have a wonderful husband who is a firefighter. When he was not home I was housebound, incapable of even the easiest of tasks, lonely and fed up.

“Ola is trained to such a high standard I can be
home alone or go out
without my husband having to leave employment to be with me now.

“She is by my side all the time, a brilliant companion and friend. With her my confidence is building both at home and out and about.”
